It hasn’t been an easy journey, but I’m grateful for the experiences I’ve learnt along the way.
My fuel for ambition keeps me going, forever learning, and looking for opportunities to improve. I’ve learnt that I need purpose and fulfilment to be the best version of myself.
I have always been passionate about helping others to unlock their potential, which is why I am here today. My career first started about 14 years ago when I graduated with a degree that enabled me to Teach English to Speakers of Other Languages. I moved to Madrid where I taught students of all ages. I enjoyed teaching as I loved seeing my student’s progress and grow in confidence.
I moved back to the UK after a couple of years as I missed my family a lot. It was at this point I changed careers as I was unable to find a suitable teaching job local to me. After a month of searching for jobs, I was successful, I started my new role which at the time I thought would only be temporary.
In 2012 I was made redundant and took the opportunity to step up into the next level of my career. I continued to work my way up and in 2014 I joined learning and development as a trainer. I continued to step up, until I reached what I thought was my dream job. I was happy and settled, but this didn’t last for long.
In 2018 I was made redundant again. It turned my world upside down and I was left feeling lost and frustrated.
Thankfully I had a strong support network which got me through some of my worst times.
I continued to climb up the corporate ladder only to find myself in a role that had been mis-sold, I worked hard but I was unfulfilled, I was away from home a lot more than I had expected and doing a job I didn’t enjoy. I knew this had to change, but I couldn’t just jump ship. So, the job search began, I dealt with many rejections from interviews until I started to turn jobs down because they didn’t align with my values.
However, things changed at work. A new role was created for me that met my skills, but I still wanted more, I knew I had so much more to offer.
I realised that I had a choice, and I could decide where to work. After a lot of patience, I eventually found a job that aligned to my values and brought me closer to my goals of coaching.
I know what it’s like to feel stuck and desperately searching for a way out. Two things I’ve learnt along the way are:
1. To have a strong support network you can speak to, who will uplift you.
2. To have a coach that will guide you and keep you accountable.
